What Will Artificial Intelligence Bring To The Table?

The rise of AI in society ...

There are lots of use cases to show the benefits of using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to perform mundane and repetitive functions in business and industry ...

The future is bright, and it is AI-based!

There is a new twist though. AI is all about autonomous sensory learning. That is to say, the system will learn, modify, adapt and enhance itself by working out its own path to any given job to accomplish the same function as on the original task.

Like human beings, AI will 'grow' and become more precise as time goes on, the machine learning capabilities will become quicker as we produce better and faster processors!

Hardware with immense computing power, such as Quantum Computing, with built-in AI will eventually replace standard mainframe and data centre servers to bring Information Technology to a whole new level.

You may have heard of Chat GPT? This AI application has appeared out of nowhere and burst onto the scene (although the development has been in the making for years), But what is Chat GPT? Here is the short answer:

"It is a natural language processing tool driven by AI technology that allows you to have human-like conversations and much more with the chatbot. The language model can answer questions and assist you with tasks, such as composing emails, essays, and code."

"In other words, you can type in a few words, phrases or sentences and the output will be a professional-looking document!"

Applying for a job just became simpler in terms of adding content to the application. However, in my professional opinion, the interviewer should now challenge each candidate to ensure that they practically demonstrate the experience that is claimed on the application. My personal fear is that there will be a minority in society who may use AI as the next fraud tool and not for the useful applications that it is being developed for.

There are many, many useful applications for AI. Email security is an area where AI is being used to scan emails for viruses and phishing scams even before the email is sent to the recipient. Companies like Trend Micro invest millions of dollars in developing cyber protection and antivirus software as more and more applications are directly on the 'cloud'.

AI will become part of the IoT very soon. Data collected from IoT devices on-site, sent via a chosen method (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, LoRa WAN, NB-IOT) to the data analysis platform and currently analysed by a real person will soon be fully automated with the use of AI learning and will control other machine functions even more than today.

"We could turn into a two-tier society!"

There will be a fraction of society who are the 'brains' behind creating all things automated and then there are the rest of us who will be content in just using the systems to make our lives easier, without really understanding the technology.

Humans will get so used to just 'pressing, buttons' without knowing what really goes on in the background that when it all goes wrong, we won't be able to carry out the simplest of tasks manually.

The future is bright, and it is AI-based, but what we can't do is rely so heavily on it that we lose the everyday skills that it is supposed to replace.

Until next time ...

About Pritesh Ganatra ...

The word 'Technology' has too many connotations in today's world!

Where do we start? Simple terms like 'IT' and 'Telecoms'? or terms that appear NOT to have an actual meaning at all!, e.g. 'Internet of Things (IoT).

Technology also encompasses specialist products and services like 'Rugged' and 'Tough' android devices, Lone Worker Software, panic alarm devices, smart energy devices, low energy lighting, credit card terminal (PCI DSS) security, indoor/ outdoor Wi-Fi systems, Ultrafast Gigabit internet connectivity, access control systems, industrial IoT circuit controllers.

BTS UK can consult from simple solutions to the most complex, provide some of the products through a wholesale channel, bring together a multi-disciplined 'Task Force' to deliver and implement complete Technology 'projects'.

I am your technology problem solver and I look forward to helping you.
