I was approached after an accountancy practice posted a request for quotations for its IT requirements. On the face of it, there was nothing unusual. They needed to consider Microsoft 365, device management, endpoint security, cloud backup, and ongoing IT support. All perfectly sensible considerations for a professional services business ... What caught my attention was just how specific the shopping list had become before an IT provider had even been involved. It specified Microsoft 365 Business Premium and Business Basic licences, Microsoft Intune, Sophos Endpoint Protection, AvePoint backup and even a Windows 365 Cloud PC with a particular processor, memory and storage configuration.
