The madness of spending billions on AI startups raises alarm over staggering valuations and the implications for society. Many of these companies focus on trivial applications while genuinely innovative solutions remain sidelined, posing a threat to the workforce ...

Spending billions on, AI startups, hope for change, Technology grows

The line between innovation and madness appears to be increasingly blurred these days, and spending billions on AI startups has become a perplexing trend. Emerging US tech companies are securing multi-billion-pound valuations, yet many barely grasp the true essence of 'artificial intelligence.'

Instead of pioneering genuine breakthroughs, these companies often rely on machine learning techniques that regurgitate two decades' worth of internet content - a mélange of 20% legitimate information, 40% dross, and 40% criminal activity.

It seems the 80/20 rule is alive and well, but
perhaps not in the way it should be!

Consider the absurdity of valuations where a staggering £13 billion was disbursed by Meta for the services of a single individual. This is not just a waste of capital; it epitomises an alarming trend where money is exchanged like confetti, disregarding its potential for tangible societal benefits.

A fortune like that could have been allocated to address pressing issues - education, healthcare, climate change, the list is interminable. Yet, here we are, watching as wealth becomes an abstract concept, a man-made creation designed to perpetuate division and control over the masses.

As the hype surrounding artificial intelligence prevails, companies are relentlessly pushing the narrative that AI will enhance productivity and drive prosperity. However, the reality paints a starkly different picture. Millions of jobs hang perilously in the balance as AI takes centre stage, leading not to a utopia of support and collaboration, but to widespread job displacement.

Shouldn't the goal of technology be to assist humanity, not undermine its very foundations?

The question arises: can AI fix plumbing, handle electrical work, perform bricklaying, or even stitch fabric into clothing? The truth is, it cannot. AI lacks the essence of true intelligence - creativity, emotional understanding, and practical skill - all of which are requisite in the crafts of manual labour. It can't design and manufacture jet engines or even craft the very internet it utilises to thrive. Yet venture capitalists and tech leaders seem all too eager to pour billions into vague promises of automation.

What is fundamentally wrong with these so-called “intelligent” humans who intentionally strive to engineer machines designed to control humanity? Their actions reveal a troubling disconnect from human values, leading to a future where wealth is concentrated in the hands of a few, while the rest struggle with job insecurity.

Spending billions on AI startups represents
misguided investments which will only exacerbate
existing societal issues!

The fruits of technology should empower and uplift society, yet we stand on the brink of something sinister - a scenario where machines replace human ingenuity. The public may soon ask whether megavalued companies are our saviours or just the next illusions in this technological carnival.

As we ponder this intricate web of finances and ethical responsibility, one must question the true cost of such extravagant investments.

The madness of spending billions on AI startups is one we must scrutinise and challenge.

Until next time ...

Pritesh Ganatra

The word 'Technology' has too many connotations in today's world! Where do we start? Simple terms like 'IT' and 'Telecoms'? or terms that appear NOT to have an actual meaning at all!, e.g. 'Internet of Things (IoT). Technology also encompasses specialist products and services like 'Rugged' and 'Tough' android devices, Lone Worker Software, panic alarm devices, smart energy devices, low energy lighting, credit card terminal (PCI DSS) security, indoor/ outdoor Wi-Fi systems, Ultrafast Gigabit internet connectivity, access control systems, industrial IoT circuit controllers.

BTS UK can consult from simple solutions to the most complex, provide some of the products through a wholesale channel, bring together a multi-disciplined 'Task Force' to deliver and implement complete Technology 'projects'.

I am your technology problem solver and I look forward to helping you.
